Christina Wong
Christina Wong is a Mauritian design researcher and PhD candidate at Utrecht University (UU) based in the Department of Art History and the Urban Futures Studio. She previously taught in the Department of Arts, Music, and Design at Birzeit University in Palestine, where she also facilitated community workshops exploring local materials and textile-making practices. Her research explores the intersections of textiles, colonialism, and ecology, with a focus on how materials carry histories of movement, exchange, knowledge, and power relations. Through textiles, she questions how creative practices can offer new ways of understanding the politics of materials, colonial legacies, heritage, and cultural memory. A former Fulbright Scholar, she holds an MA in International Affairs from The New School and a BA in Textile Design from the Glasgow School of Art.
